Book Review

“This really two books in one. Both are published seperately as Eight Sabbats for Witches and The Witches’ Way. The first half is about the Sabbats, which are also Wiccan holidays, while the second half covers many of the rituals and beliefs that Wiccans have. This is a great book to have. It has the history and origins of many of today’s modern Wiccan practices. It includes pictures, diagrams and even some charts. The huge drawback is that it is such a dry read. It’s like a text book without the questions or problem solving. I was so excited to buy it but I have never been so uninterested in a book I have already bought. Definitely not for the beginner. The authenticity of much of the information including has been argued about and in some cases proved to be false. Also, some parts seem sexist and others more like Christianity or ceremonial magick. All that being said, after finally getting through it I came away with a better understanding of British Traditional Wicca here in the U.S. It’s good to see where it all comes from to a certain extent.” –New Moon
